Excitement builds up because of Anticipation...
Even before the exams had started, definitely way before it ends, I'm so fired up with my "get-away" plans. Most likely, they will not be carried out in full, or even attempted. Some years back, before I was due to start Uni, I promised to myself that I will travel each semester break. Alas commitments, and most importantly $$ had withheld me from my dream.

These few days, I had been thinking of train travel (esp, from Singapore to Thailand via train). Strangely enough, last dinner, my friend told me about this trans-Siberia train. It got me going, and now, I'm checking up related sites. Cost again is a stumbling block, and I dun think I can find anyone to go with me (friends from the gang I hang out with are going for a rendevous in Thailand, complete with shopping bargains, 'sightseeing' and FOOD). I think I would somewhat prefer traveling on my own too--> creates a lot of opportunities to really explore places and get immersed in the culture and surroundings.

But one greatest trip I want to make is to see the Northern Lights. Canada maybe, Alaska?

Also yearning for real intellectual conversations. Had not been talking much ever since I came back. Nothing to comment on? Or I think, I had not been getting in touch with knowledge, so there's no materials for me to draw on when talking & voice out on matters. Or there's no need to talk because my presence or absence is really not important and un-noticed.

Insomia Hits
Sleeplessness has gotten me. Stress? Nay.. rather it was too much sleep I think. Now I'm wide awake with excitement for dunno-wat. Though me brain is going a bit haywire with decaying intensity of synapse transmission, I still cannot sleep. And whilst I'm awake, I dun feel like studying my Sep Pro. :P Help me to sleep....

Exam Blues
It's strange that whenever studying for exams gets to me, I end up doing stuff not related to studying :P (like now) Just started on "beautifying" my Outlook by clearing the "sent items" folder, adding signatures to my "options", sending emails to friends, etc, etc....

Frenzy with Friendster
The recent interest in Friendster has spread through my small community of friends. People are busy with adding people they know onto their list and watch it expand day by day as long-lost friends, friends of friends, potential friends are introduced or found through this virtual networking service. Seeing the network, it proves again that the world is small, at least in the Singapore sense, as people know each other, and most of the time are like only 3 or 4 friends away in friendship connection. Which bring me to something I read somewhere before. It wrote that everyone in the world are 10 friends apart from each other. I was wondering if that statement was true. But right now, I think I'm partially subscribed to that, and it remains to be proven... in time...

Why does red cabbage juice change colour with pH?
Molecules called anthocyanins are found in flower petals, leaves, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, cranberries, cherries, apples and grapes, and in red cabbage. Anthocyanins cause the beautiful red/purple color that you see in roses and in the fall, in maple leaves. Anthocyanins are produced in leaves once chlorophyll (which is green) degenerates in the fall. Nature produces over 300 structurally distinct anthocyanins. By boiling red cabbage leaves, we can take out (extract) the anthocyanins. Anthocyanins dissolved in water (in aqueous solution) change color depending upon the amount of H+ and HO- in the water. (That is the same thing as saying that the absorbance of light by anthocyanins depends on pH.) Flowers such as hydrangea contain anthocyanins, and their color is sensitive to the acidity of the soil. The anthocyanins in red cabbage turn bright pink in acid solutions, reddish-purple in neutral solutions and green in basic solutions. But anthocyanins from other plants have other pH/color profiles.

How frequent are lunar eclipses?
Any given location can experience up to three lunar eclipses per year. Some years there are none. The most recent total eclipse was yesterday, 9th Nov 2003, visible in Europe.

El Tango De Roxanne
MacGreggor/Cast
Argentinean:
[Jealousy]
Will drive you (x3)
…Mad

Roxanne, you don’t have to put on that red light
Walk the streets for money
You don’t care if it’s wrong or if it is right.

Roxanne, you don’t have to wear that dress tonight.
Roxanne, you don’t have to sell your body to the night.

Christian:
His eyes upon your face
His hand upon your hand
His lips caress your skin

It’s more than I can stand

Argentinean & Backing:
Roxanne

Christian:
Why does my heart cry?

Argentinean & Backing:
Roxanne

Christian:
Feelings I can’t fight

You’re free to leave me
But just don’t deceive me
And please
Believe me when I say
I love you

Latin Bridge:

Yo que te quiero tanto, que voy a hacer?
Me dejaste...me dejaste como una paloma
El alma se me fue; se me fue el corazon
Ya no tengo ganas de vivir porque no te puedo convencer
Que no te vendas, Roxanne

(English translation:)
And I who love you so much; what am I going to do?
You left me...you left me like a dove
My soul has left me; my heart has left me
I no longer wish to live because I cannot convince you
Not to sell yourself, Roxanne.

Argentinean:
Roxanne – you don’t have to put on that red light

Christian:
Why does my heart cry?
Feelings I can’t fight

Argentinean:
You don’t have to wear that dress tonight

Argentinean:
Roxanne – you don’t have to put on that red light

Backing:
Why does my heart cry?

Argentinean:
Roxanne – you don’t have to wear that dress tonight

Backing:
Feelings I can’t fight

Christian, Argentinean & Backing:
ROXANNE!

Your subconscious mind is driven most by Peace
People who have unconscious minds driven by peace tend to be independent thinkers who often prefer to live by their own high personal standards and moral code.

You are Left-brained
Left-brained people are good at: Solving problems logically, writing nonfiction, algebra, remembering verbal material, recalling people's names, and telling stories rather than acting them out.

Making Beaded Peranakan Shoes
Recounting how she started her business, Ms Bebe Seet told The Straits Times how she had wanted a pair of antique beaded Peranakan shoes nine years ago but could not find them anywhere.

As a result, she had to learn the art of beading kasut manek, or beaded shoes, from a friend's mother.

After a month, she succeeded in making her very own pair. She enjoyed herself so much that she began to sell the shoes to her friends.

Now, the owner of Rumah Bebe, also a founding member of the group, will even conduct lessons for others who want to pick up the skill in her shop.

But it requires patience. It takes novices up to three months to finish a pair of shoes, which sell for anything between $250 and $1,000.
